Life, Seen Through Her Lens

Wherever He leads: travel, faith, life lessons, and a lifetime of firsts.

Hello from behind the lens.

I’m the woman holding the camera.

Every year, I say yes to something new. Some years it’s a place, some years it’s an experience, and some years it’s both. Over the years, that has meant my first Bachata dance class(that lead me to continue for a year), my first yoga session (now a daily ritual), a solo cross-country train ride from North Carolina to Colorado, and my very first glass of wine at 50. Each one has added something to who I am, and I can’t wait to share what comes next.

I’m 55, a Midwest girl at heart who has called a handful of states home, and I’m still curious about almost everything. I split my time between the mountains and the ocean, with an adventure abroad at least once a year.

Here’s what you’ll find:

  • Travel: the places I go, and the photos I can’t stop taking.

  • Wine: what I’m learning, since starting late means I’m still catching up.

  • Small joys: coffee shops, Saturday farmers markets, and the music in my ears (usually instrumental, and often Tejano, because I can’t help but dance to it).

  • The art of gathering: charcuterie boards, grazing tables, themed dinners, and tea parties.

  • Style: how I put myself together for every occasion, from easy weekends and workdays to concerts, dinners out, and special celebrations.

  • Life notes: marriage (40 years with my high school sweetheart), aging well, and the lessons that only come with time.

Why I’m Here

Because I wish someone had told me.

There’s so much I didn’t know growing up, about life, faith, health, love, and everything in between. Here I’ll share the lessons I’ve gathered along the way, so other young women can know them sooner. And to the women my age: it’s not too late. Every one of those firsts came after 40, and they’ve kept me growing, curious, and young at heart. I encourage you to say yes to something new.

It’s also for my daughter and granddaughters. Maybe they’ll find a story I’ve never told, or a lesson worth hearing again. Maybe they’ll laugh with me, or cry with me. And one day, I’ll invite my nieces to join me on this journey too.

My day starts with coffee, slows down with a cup of hot tea, and ends with a glass of wine. So whatever’s in your cup, settle in like we’re old friends catching up. I’m so glad you’re here.

New posts every Thursday. Where will she be next?

My faith is the foundation of it all. I gave my life to Christ when I was seven years old, and I still remember that day as if it were yesterday. I see every place I go and every new experience as a gift.

I’ve seen His mighty hands move many times throughout my life. He has been with me through all the good and through the times I felt down in the valley. It has been a long love relationship, filled with growth and a deepening knowledge over the years. By no means do I claim to know it all, but I do know that He knows my name, and I know His.

Along the way, I’ve learned not to be quick to judge, because I would want others to do the same for me. I don’t have all the answers, and I don’t always get it right. But I believe that when I fall short, He will see me through by His grace and His loving mercy.
